The Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya BarcelonaTech (UPC) is a university with a consolidated worldwide reputation and an international vision that generates technological innovation and attracts talent. The objectives of the UPC. are based on internationalization, as it is Spain’s technical university with the highest number of international PhD students and Spain’s university with the highest number of international master’s degree students.

CANet is the Internet applications research centre of the UPC, it holds the esCERT-UPC, Spanish Computer Emergency Response Team, which has developed many activities to improve the computer security and the use of e-signature and PKI, since the early '80ies. esCERT-UPC has participated and leaded a number of EU funded projects, which aim was to promote computer and Internet security, and PKI in particular, since 1981. esCERT-UPC is member of several international forums and associations of Incident Response and Coordination Teams: FIRST, TERENA’s TF-CSIRT, Abuses Forum, ISMS forum, etc.
